As part of the Table Matters Network, The City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver and the District of West Vancouver are working together with Vancouver Coastal Health and lots of great community organizations to improve food security in the North Shore area. A vital part of this great work is looking at food recovery. Funded as part of the Healthy Communities Capacity Building Fund, the Scaling Up North Shore Food Recovery project is working with food retailers, residents, community organizations and many more stakeholders to divert edible food from the waste stream and instead provide healthy nutritious food to food insecure residents. By building the capacity of all those involved to learn and work together the project will develop a strategy and tools to boost food recovery.
