Engaging the “Silent Majority” of local residents in the planning process at a depper and ongoin level is key to making land use and transportation decisions that reflect and balance the needs of a diversity of community members. This webinar presents case studies from pioneering projects in Vernon and Clearwater wher agencies have made promising steps towards broadening public engagement at the neighbourhood and street levels, and in the implementation of Official Community Plans and Transportation Master Plans.
Through these webinars, planners, design professionals, health professionals, and other participants involved in promoting healthy built environments and sustainable development, will learn:
- How agencies and professionals from across sectors can creatively collaborate at the local level in order to enhance community engagement in the land use and transportation planning process–within limited resources.
- What are some emerging promising practices for broadening and deepening stakeholder engagement in land use and transportation decisions at the neighbourhood and street levels.
- How working across-sectors to facilitate community engagement can help planners meet the health and sustainability objectives of the communities they serve.
