The Mount Waddington Health Network (MWHN), Mount Waddington Regional District, and Island Health hosted this event to build collaborative capacity to advance work on priority issues in the region. The event built on current initiatives by the MWHN and others to address key issues affecting health and well-being in the region, such as the needs of seniors/elders, children and youth, as well as the specific challenges and opportunities in rural and remote communities.

Local organizations and community champions dug deeply into these complex issues and to built greater capacity to work collectively towards shared goals.

EXPLORED strengths and challenges of working collectively on complex issues in a rural context.
LEARNED about local health data and initiatives, and current approaches to create change to address complex issues.
IDENTIFIED opportunities for enhanced collaboration on key local issues such as elders/older adults, and children and youth.

This workshop was open to community organizations, local government and First Nations staff and council, and Island Health staff with an interest in collaborating on complex community issues affecting health and well-being in the region.
