Apply to be the Next BC Rural Summit Host!

Date/Time
Date(s) - February 1, 2016 - February 2, 2016
4:00 pm - 3:45 pm

This Request for Proposal is designed to seek proposals from communities wanting to host the 9th BC Rural Communities Summit in the spring of 2016. The BC Rural Network will work with the successful applicant, providing background, organizational support, some financial support, and assistance with fundraising. Final financial statements from previous Summits will be made available to the host community.  Due to a more challenging funding environment the BCRN is not as able to financially support the host organization as it has in the past.

Background

The first BC Rural Communities Summit was held in June 2003 in the community of Clearwater.  Recognizing that Clearwater’s struggles as a rural community were not unique in BC, community leaders decided to host a Summit where concerned rural citizens from across the province could discuss key issues and policy changes affecting rural communities. Subsequent BC Rural Summits have been held in Rossland (2004), Merrit (2005), Osoyoos (2006), 100 Mile House (2008), Port Hardy (2010), Grand Forks (2012), and Kaslo (2014).

Location Criteria

Preference will be given to rural communities with a population of approximately 10,000 or less, and within 1 hour of an airport.
