We are pleased to announce the winners of our Seeding Healthy Communities photo contest! Congratulations to the municipality of Bowen Island and Courtenay’s Lush Valley Food Action Society for their wonderful winning photos. These PlanH Community Capacity Building Fund – Seeding Stream recipients used their photos to show us how their projects help build healthier small, rural and remote communities.
The Lush Valley Food Action Society has been working with the sociology students at North Island College and contributors from the City of Courtenay to look at how we can help folks who live within city limits to grow food for sale. Their photo demonstrates how small urban spaces can create an amazing bounty of food.
The municipality of Bowen Island showed us how they were able to connect with kids and parents at Bowen Island Community School to get student and parent input on their Integrated Transportation Master Plan.
Congratulations to both of our photo contest winners, as well as to all our other funded communities for the amazing work they are doing. Follow their progress on social media by searching #BCHC_SeedingRural
