Northern Health partnered with BC Healthy Communities Society to offer three regional interactive, one-day learning and networking events for local governments, community partners, and health authority staff from municipalities.
The three events where held in:
- Terrace, BC for Northwest communities on October 1st, 2013
- Fort St. John for Northeast Communities on October 10th, 2013
- Prince George for Northern Interior communities on November 13th, 2013
Across the three regions approximately, 140 people participated in this learning workshop called, “Silos to Systems: Building Partnerships for Healthy Communities”.
Silos to Systems is one of several workshops being offered by BCHC Society as part of the PlanH program.
Participants discussed health and well-being in their communities and opportunities for further collaboration between sectors. The potential for real change and accomplishment when we work in collaboration, rather than in isolation, was a key focus of the day. And participants explored the significant impact of all members at the table when we collaborate on complex issues related to healthy communities.
Although collaboration is a buzzword these days, this workshop supported participants to develop a more nuanced understanding of the impact of collaboration.
