PlanH supports local governments creating healthier communities through funding, resources, learning opportunities and leading practices for healthy public policy. The program focuses on the interconnection between people, society, and environment as the building blocks of healthy communities.

PlanH develops and publishes action guides and toolkits, offers workshops and online learning opportunities, and provides financial and in-kind supports to local governments to help them achieve their healthy community goals.

Since 2012, over $1M has been distributed to over 170 communities across the province, funding meaningful local initiatives such as food security action plans, equitable community engagement processes, and pilot projects designed to increase active transportation.

PlanH works to educate local officials, municipal staff, local organizations and health authorities about the need for multi-sectoral collaboration on issues of community-level public health, especially between local governments and their regional health authority.
