BC Healthy Communities Society is a province-wide not-for-profit organization that facilitates the ongoing development of healthy, thriving and resilient communities.
We provide a range of resources, programs and fee-for-service offerings that support multi-sectoral groups to collaborate around a shared vision for a common purpose. We work closely with, and have strong partnerships with local governments and health authorities across the province.
Launched in the Fall of 2005, BCHC's Central Office is located in the Dock Centre for Social Impact in Victoria, BC.
Healthy Communities for all.
Working primarily in British Columbia, we support multi-sectoral groups to build their capacity to create healthy communities.
We implement the Healthy Communities approach — community engagement, multi-sector collaboration, political commitment, healthy public policy, and asset-based community development.
Equity: everyone contributes what they can and gets what they need, knowing that abilities and needs are different.
Integrity: we work in the public interest with honesty, intentionality and compassion.
Learning: we create opportunities to develop and share knowledge.
Respect: we honour the strengths, assets and approaches communities bring to this work.
Service: we place communities first and meet them where they are at.
"I cannot thank you enough for assisting our small but mighty group in the collective impact process. Your guidance and support helped us take a mind-boggling mishmash of ideas and create an actionable plan we can be proud of."
